Mayte
Few artists warrant the word "dazzling" today, but Mayte Camara is one of the few. Like classic batik, her brilliant colors flow together without blending, each work a fierce chemistry of interacting hues and shapes, seemingly painted in a single flash of perception. Her passion for life and her life's work is evident in each of her Impressionist landscapes.
Born and raised in Spain, Mayte began her studies at the St. Jorge University of Fine Arts in Barcelona, and graduated from the San Fernando University of Fine Arts in Madrid with a BFA in Art.
Mayte then moved to the US in 1979, where she took additional studies in ceramics and silkscreening, in Daytona Beach and at the University of Tennessee, respectively. These other interests are evident in her use of pools of pure color. Other defining Mayte touches are trees that evaporate into the sky, riotous wildflowers in the foreground, and serene vistas that go on forever.
Eminently collectable, Mayte's works hang in Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills, the Bocairente City Hall in Valencia, Spain, and in corporate and private collections worldwide.
