Pan Mossi

Pan Mossi was born on December 2, 1968 in Shanghai, China. he fell in love with art at the age of 13 when he had a chance to enter a contest with his art work. At that time Mossi's parents disapproved of him becoming an artist.

Despite the fact that his parents were against it, he enrolled in Shanghai Normal University as an oil painting major. During his college years he exhibited his work with his classmates many times and was recognized for his outstanding work. Mossi graduated in 1990 and had big hopes for his career. However, his family was in financial difficulties and Mossi had to put aside his dream as an artist for a few years.

He tried to work at other jobs, but ended up quitting within four months. Not being able to hold any stable jobs, Mossi's uncle recommended him moving to Beijing. His uncle saw the talent in Mossi and funded his supplies until Mossi was making enough money to support himself as an aritist. Since then, he has been working as an artist and works harder that ever before.

Mossi is currently involved in many associations including the Shanghai Artist Association and Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition in 1994, Asian Young Artist Invitation Exhibition in 1999. Mossi was nationally recognized at the 40th Anniversary for the Founding of P.R.C. He was first shown in the United States at the International Artexpo New York in 2002.

Currently he is shown in many private collections in China, Korea, Japan, Sweden, Singapore, Philippine, and the United States. Mossi contiues to explore new techniques, and believes that his career is a learning process. His painting tends to be thick with colors and texture. The heavy palettes of his paintings are unique and strong, leading the viewer to further investigate what the artist is trying to express. His personal favorite subject is European landscapes and his paintings have captured many fans in the U.S.
