Sonje finds the world a complicated place – busy and noisy.  Through her painting, she creates a serene, quiet world without cars or people.  There are the birds, the sky, the trees and a depth into the painting where one can be alone without intrusion.  The viewer is privileged to imagine a serenade from songbirds.  Inspired by her surroundings, Sonje often paints a favorite bird or fond recollection.  She plays with depth, rhythm and symmetry as do the great composers, using them to draw us into her work.  Exquisite detail and a unique mastery of light in the subject allow for a romantic ambiance for any interior.

As a result of her popular prizes and exhibitions, Sonje’s paintings are now collected in the US, Great Britian, Britian, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Australia.  Everyday her stature and reputation increases, her body of collectors, both public and private.
